About
My name is Cédric Delalande. I am a french software engineer, living near Poitiers, France. I am a husband and a father of four.
After a 19-year career as an English teacher, I switched to IT - no regrets. Check out my résumé.
I code in Ruby on Rails, and Golang. I’m interested in Crystal and Gleam. I have a DevOps streak, with solid experience in Kubernetes on Google Cloud and AWS.
I have ADHD – without the H – which means I’m a bit of a scatterbrain. I have trouble switching context, but I’m also very creative and I can hyperfocus on a task for hours, days, weeks, months, as long as I manage to eat, sleep, go to the bathroom and take breaks, which sounds a lot easier than it is. Believe me.
I maintain the Barley gem, a godsend serializer.
I have a soft spot for clean code and software architecture in general. I’m a convinced user of Emacs (Doom flavor) and I type in bépo.
A longtime blogger, I wrote a book in 2013 about the role and message of the Protestant church in modern society, addressing, among other things, the issue of welcoming LGBTQ+. Available as an eBook or in print.
I believe in a loving God.
Using faith to justify hatred, discrimination, or violence is outrageous and a misinterpretation of the message of Jesus Christ. Jesus loves you, no matter who you are, where you come from, which color your skin is, who you have sex with, how you feel about your gender (if you even have one?), how much money you have, or what you believe in.
I believe Jesus was the defender of the oppressed, not the defender of “values”.
You can find me all over the web under my pseudonym MoskitoHero, or under my real name.
