It’s great to take a break.
I usually take 3 weeks off in the summer, which is a great way to reset and recharge, taking time to relax, travel and spend time with my family.
This year, we decided to plan a road trip across the North of Spain, from Barcelona to Bilbao. We took the opportunity to hike on the Pasarelas of MontRebei, spend evenings suspended in time in a beautiful village called Tolva, go canyoning in Alquezar’s Rio Vero, visit Saragossa, take great pictures in the Bardenas Reales desert, the Olite castle, take a walk in the beautiful streets of Barcelona, Pamplona, and Bilbao, and enjoy excellent pintxos in the Basque Country.
All this with our good old MG4 EV. I was a little concerned about finding charging stations in the most remote areas, but in the end, it was not a problem at all and apart from the usual friction of adapting to different charging services (download the app, create an account, yawn…), everything went smoothly.
Once I got back, I took a few days to finish working on my terrace, finally laying the pedestal paving on the side of the house, where the old terrace had collapsed into the ground. This involved breaking concrete, removing gravel, leveling the ground, and pouring a new concrete base onto which I laid the pedestal paving. It was a lot of work, but I’m happy with the result, and this 2 and a half years project is finally done. Yay!
Needless to say, such a busy summer break had me lose a few pounds, which is great news. Now I need to keep the numbers low on the scale for the next few months, which is more of a challenge when sitting at a computer for hours all week.
I will not lie and say that I am happy to get back to work this morning. I woke up, got dressed, went downstairs to my home office feeling a little depressed. But the good side of working from home is that I can always take a few minutes later in the morning when the family gets up to have a coffee with them on my brand new terrace and bring back some of the holiday vibes to my workday.
I love my job, but I guess I love my family more 😉!
